Specialisms
The school building is modern, bright and spacious, set in green fields. Three attractive sensory gardens have been created, one in each department of the school and baskets and tubs enhance public areas. Staffing allows one teacher supported by highly skilled assistants working with small class groups. All of the staff have developed specialist skills and knowledge appropriate to their role, meeting the range of needs well. The Headteacher is very experienced and has acted as a mentor for Headteachers new to the role within the Authority. In addition to extensive experience in teaching pupils with learning difficulties, many staff have additional qualifications in specific areas. For example: language and communications, autism, reading, visual impairment, careers, behaviour management, music, design and technology, art and football coaching. Staff work closely with outside agencies, including educational psychologist, physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist and school nurse.
